  • Slacking Again

I am insane!  I can't believe I thought I could work part time, do a show, sing on praise team, take ballroom dance lessons, build a mosaic every couple of weeks, get a new puppy and still be any kind of wife and mother!

    Agggggghhhhh!

    What am I thinking!?

You may not hear from me much.

  • Two New Pieces

I'm so excited to finally get a couple more done!  My Etsy shop was needing something new.  I guess I'm on a bit of a cross kick, but only one more and then no more for a while-don't want to do overkill on the crosses.  They had a sale at Hobby Lobby!!! C'mon!

    Anyway, here they are.

  • Ten Things I Would Probably Bring Up In Conversation If We Were Sitting Down to Dine Together

     1. My audition went as well as it could have-strong vocal, poor reading for the part I didn't want (that wasn't intentional really, but my heart just wasn't in it), and decent reading for the part I did want.  So, now there's just to wait . . . and I can "fall back" (the Bard forgive me) on the Shakespeare.

    2. The Shakespeare, by the way, would be really new and challenging for me, as I really only did one or two scenes for acting class and have never had a chance to see if I have any ability in that area.

    3. I'm trying to get some more mosaics done, but there is NO TIME! You know I'll show pics of the pieces when I do get them, whether you want to see them or not.

    4.  Gillian is now running to me and saying "mommy, mommy," while hiding her face between my knees.  After weeks and weeks of nothing but "DADDY!", this is quite delightful.

    5.  Liam has been accident free for 13 days!

    6. I'm also taking Ballroom dance lessons.  (Happy contented sigh at lifelong dream being realized)

    7.  andy, andy, andy, andy, andy, andy, andy, andy, andy. (Happy contented sigh just because he's so freaking awesome!)

    8. Lucy is doing very will with playing and being at home.  Don't ask about the chewing and the house breaking.

    9. I think April Fool's Day should be called, "Lying Bastard Day." Just FYI.

    10.  Liam requested from me a broadway song earlier today, and a White Stripes number from andy this evening. . . we're both so very proud!

  • Apparently I Love Lucy

    IMG_2566

This is Lucy.  She's been with us for a week today.  She looks really big in this photo because of the perspective, but she's a tiny little bundle of cuteness.  She's about 5 inches long (minus the tail) and about 3 inches high.  She sleeps with me, curled up next to my tummy.  ( I guess that's a nice warm, squishy spot! :()

Anyway, I had no idea how attached I was to this little girl until she disappeared.  At around 9:30 the night before last, she curled herself up around the back leg of the couch.  We searched for an hour and forty five minutes, tearing the house apart and scouring the block with flashlights. With the worst possible scenarios dancing through my head, we searched in the washer and dryer, in the flood drain, and as close as we could get to the fence of our neighbor's where the giant mean dogs live.  I got kinda close to hysterical right near the end thinking she had to be dead before one last ditch effort of turning over all the furniture in the house.  And there she was under the couch (the couch that we'd both looked under twice with flash lights!)  Anyway, that was terrifying, so I guess I love my new puppy.

  • Don't Cry Silly!

When I was a very little girl, I remember my Grandma Hazel always crying when we left after a visit.  She's such a sweet lady and I loved my visits with her, but I never could understand why she had to cry every time we left. My little mind had the audacity to think her silly and over emotional.  My mom was in her late twenties then with two small kiddos-the youngest of which with such a tiny world view and a huge self image.

I am 27 now.  I have two small kiddos.  My mom left this morning, and this morning, I cried.

  • Popcorn Puffs

Okay, I've probably already written about this because it's a big part of who I am (no, really), but mom and I were laughing about it tonight, so I just had to mention it.

I'm a quirky popcorn eater.  I eat the popcorn in two phases.  Phase one is to grab the piece of popcorn by the soft squishy part and eat off all the crunchy, kernelly part.  I then place the soft squishy part in a pile, in a bowl, on a napkin, or (yes, I did do this once) a pocket.  The pile continues to grow as I go through the popcorn.  Only when all of the popcorn's crunchy, kernelly parts are all gone, am I left with a mound of soft squishy popcorn parts.  Move to phase two.  I then pick us as large a handful of the soft squishy parts as I can, if not all, and shove them into my mouth.  As I chew, I savor the squishyness and relish in the absence of crunchy, kernellyness.  This is how it must be done, even in the movie theater.

Am I weird?  What foods do you get OCD over?

  • Good Intentions

Yesterday Andy threw out an almost full bottle of vitamin C.  The expiration was early 2006.  I think I bought them sometime in early 2005.  Am I just that undisciplined?  I always have the best of intentions, but so many things end up wasted because I never follow through.  How many half full bottles of vitamins will I throw away?  How many practically full packages of dental floss will get tossed because they've gotten sticky somehow in the bottom of the bathroom drawer?  How many empty journal pages will never be filled because I've already bought a new journal to sit by my bed?  How many bags of fresh produce will go bad in the drawer of my fridge because the heath benefits of collard greens somehow don't sound as appealing at dinner time as they do while standing in the grocery store?  *Sigh*

Tell me I'm not the only one.  What good intentions do you never follow through on?

  • Just a little update

Here are just a few things going on with us.

    1. Next week my mom is coming for a two week visit!  Hooray!
    2. Andy got Radiohead tickets.  Happy andy.
    3. Liam is now wearing big boy pants!
    4. Gillan is saying 1-2 new words each day.  Yesterday she learned "up." with a reach of the arms up to mommy.  CUTE!
    5. I'm contemplating adding ballroom dancing to my swing dancing.  I'm praying about the cost, andy is praying he doesn't get asked to go.

I was hoping for a list of 10, but that's all I've got--just busy busy with every day life.

"any one want to take a stab as to why we don't use them?"-- Because in this group, we're doing well just to post and comment. I don't think we can handle much else.
  • seriousbethy
No one uses pulse, no one uses the chatboard, no ine sends memories any more or even nudges. Those poor people at xanga headquarters are working so hard to bring us all these great features . . . any one want to take a stab as to why we don't use them?
  • AK2303
Okay Bethy I'm on Xanga, but I'm a moron. I have no idea what to do on here or how to find anything. Its so great to see everyone's pics though. You look so lovely!

Andy did tell me about the name. Can I consider her my unofficial namesake? : ) I'm glad someone likes my name. I've always struggled with it.
